We decided to join an outfil called 'Adventure Tours' which you could very well .wonder if we are trying to recapture our youth! But the company was recommended to us by both locals and travellers that we met in Port Douglas so we thought that we would give it a go. There were 16 in the group, all nationalities and ages (from 20 to 60)
Of course as we (or more precisely Saskia) had gotten used to our creature comforts, we were a bit concerned about the accommodation but we were pleasantly surprised with the tents (permanent) which were clean and comfortable. Actually, we have been very impressed with all the facilities available to the public - gas barbeques at most beach fronts are clean and freely available to all - makes me wonder why anyone has a kitchen here!
We spent 2 days in Kakadu National Park and 1 day in Litchfield National Park. The scenery is very familiar - dry and hot - however what we are surprised about is that there is almost no wildlife.
On our first day we hiked up to view the Aboriginal rock art - again quite similar to the Bushman paintings.
